In 1933, a famous formation flight, led by Italo Balbo, crossed the Atlantic with this italian seaplane. Built by Savoia, the S.55X (X for ten) was an improved version of the S.55.As a seaplane, and powered by two tandem-mounted engines, its shape is unique and this is why I painted it for the 80th anniversary of the event.
